Each city has its own unique restaurants, taverns and bars, in which many gourmets rush. Chania is not an exception since there are over 100 unique locations where you can try national food and Mediterranean cuisine.
For those guests who are not used to change their gastronomic preferences, there are restaurants where everyone will find the dishes of favourite cuisines. Kariatis restaurant opened in 1993 became a wonderful place to relax for the whole family with children. Here, adults and children will be enchanted with speciality pasta and Italian pizza. In addition, the restaurant’s menu offers to taste exotic treats. Black rice and lobsters are the most popular dishes among gourmets.
To get here, go to the Old Harbour along Khalidon Street. The road will not seem long, because soon you will be near the water, then go to the quay, where there is a large square not far away. As soon as you see Kastelli, you may think that you have reached the place. Kariatis restaurant is built on the wall of Kastelli appearing from water and spread over territory of the Katechaki Square, next to Arsenal.
The interior of the restaurant is very suitable for a pleasant pastime. The visitors will enter the building with a subdued light, wooden elements passing from the walls to the ceiling as the sea waves. Interesting lighting design – soft subdued light of warm purple shade creates a romantic atmosphere.
Each room has its own character. In one, wooden furniture with armchairs upholstered with purple cloth prevails, high upholstered chairs are placed next to the bar counter thus repeating the colours of basic upholstered furniture. Looking at the ceiling you can see a golden mosaic emphasizing the stylishness of the place. The 2nd hall looks like a bridal dress and white colour prevails on the walls with paintings of pastel shades, floor and chairs and there are white tablecloths on the tables.
Guests of Kariatis restaurant will be pleasantly surprised by the size of dishes served. It is worth noting that the restaurant has a certificate of quality “Winner of 2015-2018”. The restaurant specializes in meat and traditional Italian dishes. Despite this, lovers of Japanese cuisine or vegetarians will feel comfortable here (sushi is served from 2014). Gluten-free menu is offered for those with gluten intolerance.
